Long Break

Greetings Readers,
It has been a while since I have made a post here as I needed to take a break from everything at the end of last year, but we are now in 2012 and I am revived,refreshed and ready to create. This is the first one of a few tangles that I have been doing on and off this week, and am calling it "tentalicious", although it did not start off with that idea in mind but just sort of went that way, which is the norm for most of my creative art. I actually think that is exciting when you have an idea in mind that you want to create, and it ends up nothing like you envisaged....as I usually say about everything
"go with the flow".
I have more of these I want to do but with some bold and bright funky colours, however I wanted to keep this one in black and white as I find just the two tones can be very striking together. I used Sharpies,Artline Pens,Pencils on cartridge paper,postcard size.

Blue Rhapsody

Hi all,
Got this finished very early this morning and am really please how it has turned out, more so because it started out as a bit crappy and on paper that is not really suited to sharpies and heavy pen work, but perseverance has paid off. I still feel it has a bit of a Celtic feel to it with the blue but some of it has been lost in the very different patterns, sometimes you just start out with an idea and the pens just take over and you follow the line, if you get my drift !

Hi all,
Another zia in the making, this time with blue added, and I just love this shade as it reminds me of the blue colour that Celtic tribes used for decoration. No idea how this will pan out so am just going with the flow and see what happens...created with sharpies and artline pens, size approx 12 x10.

A Splash of Red

Hi all,
I have just finished this, and have to say that I love the splash of red against the black pen work and beige colour of the paper. I used Sharpies and Artline drawing pens on Stonehenge paper, which is ok as long as you don't overload too much colour with the sharpies as the paper is quite absorbent.Not sure if needs more adding to it to fill the whole page, so feel free to leave some input ?

Hi all,
This is another Zendala that I did some time a go, but again was never really totally happy with it. I loved using colour but I had not added the shading in, which methinks makes all the difference. It is strange that you can look at something some time later and know exactly what needs to be done to bring it alive, however this is a little bit of tweaking that I will do before calling it properly finished.

Another Tangle

Hi all,
Bit behind with stuff this week due to having another bout of feeling unwell, so have not managed to create as much as I would of liked, but I did do this. A zendoodle of sorts methinks,with shading added in pencil for extra depth.The pic is not the greatest due to being taken with my phone camera, as the scanner is having a numpty at the moment.
The previous post that I wrote showed one of my Zendala creations, and I had very intention of reworking it, but for some reason I cannot find it, so am not sure it will reappear, having said that I do have lots of ideas for some new ones which I shall be working on and off through the coming months.

Painted Stone Gift

Hi all,
Just finished this painted stone paperweight and just in time too as it is a gift for someone. I did struggle somewhat with what to do on this one and did numerous sketch's for ideas, but as per usual it started out one way and ended up totally different to what I had in mind, however the colour palette is right so its all good. I am still finding my way with these as paint is not something I find easy to work with, but it is coming and obviously the more I do the better I will get. My wood items have come out of storage as well, so will be doing a bit on them too through the Autumn months...make great gifts for Xmas etc.

Hi all,
I did this Zendala a while back, well actually over a year ago when I first started out exploring this type of art, and at the time thought it was ok, but now looking at it again I don't think it is. The patterning is okish but lacks something, perhaps more detail and definitely shading with pencil which is something that I have not used before....pens yes, pencils no. Looking on the flickr group and a lot of Zentangle sites it seems to be the norm to do, so I shall fetch this out of my portfolio and see if can I add a bit of zing into it.

Hi all,
Well thank god the weather has cooled off a bit here in the UK, I love the heat its good for my joints but the humidity is a killer, and mid week it was pretty awful, much more comfortable now.
I thought I would share this with you, I call them handtangles which seems pretty appropriate as it is my hand that I use, but there is a mistake in this caused by lack of concentration whilst watching the tv at the same time! Not that I think you can really screw up a doodle/tangle piece of art as there is always a way to incorporate it into the finished piece. Done in my most battered sketch book using Artline pens unfinished yet....note to self must get some sakura Pigma pens to try as they seem to be the most popular and recommended for this kind of art.

Hi all,
As some of you will know I am primarily a fine art coloured pencil/graphite artist first and fir most, but over the past few years have started to branch out to and experiment with new ideas and media.As I am a bit of a stickler for keeping things separate I have started this blog to share those creative endeavours with you hoping to master some of them as I go along. I am passionate about Zentangles and where this creative art form could take me, as I am about mandalas and stone/wood painting. It is still being built so hope you will bear with me as I tweak adjust and get everything in place, and my thanks to any of those who do decide to follow or link to me, they will be returned.
